Mapping Antarctica
Mapping the surface of a continent - any continent - is difficult enough. Mapping the surface of Antarctica is even more challenging. But, what lies beneath the 2 miles of ice covering this continent? NASA just released Bedmap2 - an updated version of the topography that lies underneath the Antarctic ice sheets.
